More than 35% of Rhode Islanders are ‘cost-burdened’ which means they spend more than 30% of their income to pay for housing.  44% of Rhode Islanders are severely cost-burdened spending more than 50% of their income on housing costs which leaves little for other expenses.  BRENDA CLEMENT, Director of Housing Works RI at RWU, discusses affordable housing and what it to own or rent in each Rhode Island community.
